Welcome to Blackburn Civic Society

Blackburn Civic Society is a local amenity organisation, concerned with maintaining high standards of architecture and town planning.

It seeks to create public interest in the beauty, history and character of Blackburn. It also has regard for the preservation, development and improvement of features of general public amenity or historic interest.

The Society pursues these ends by means of meetings, exhibitions, lectures, visits, publications etc,. as well as promoting schemes to increase awareness and involvement in our local built environment

In common with all other Civic Societies, Blackburn Civic Society is an independent organisation which encourages the protection and improvement of the environment. It is not an "official" body funded by either Central or Local Government
